The time was 1.09.04 with the final 600m in 34.65 with 1 ¾ by ½ Length the official margins. Impressed with the colts efforts, Waller admitted that he had to consider all options to get to this race after weather conditions forced the trainer to change the three-year-old’s race sequence this campaign.
“He is a pretty handy horse and things just haven’t gone right for him this preparation, mainly because of the wet weather. We didn’t have time to have him ready for the Golden Rose, which was the race he was originally going to be set for,” he said. “We did not panic and we sent him to Melbourne which looked the next best option. The first time up the straight he got a bit lost and he has improved with that run. It was good to see him bounce back today, he is a very good colt”, Waller said.
Waller confirmed that the next challenge for the colt is likely to be the $500,000 Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) on AAMI Victoria Derby Day on Saturday, 1 November.
“The Coolmore Stud Stakes was always the plan. We will stick to it. He is had the experience of running down the straight”, said the trainer.

It was the second win for Moreira at the meeting who rode the Gai Waterhouse trained Redoute’s Choice colt Hampton Court to win the $100,000, listed Dulcify Quality (1600m). There was a moment’s hesitation that Moreira could not get off the rail for clear running room outside of the stablemate Duccio (More Than Ready) and Tim Clark, but once he was out and had balanced Hampton Court they went away for a 3/4L win. Bachman (All American) and Corey Brown were third with the margin 1 1/4L. Hampton Court will back up next week in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m).
