It has been over a month since our last runner, therefore it will be pleasing to see two of our horses run in two different states tomorrow.

First up will be glamazon mare GIRL SUNDAY who will be chasing black type success when she steps out in a very deep Group 3 Tibbie Stakes at Newcastle tomorrow afternoon.

As expected at this time of year, the field has attracted a top class line up of mares including INVINCIBLE GEM, ZESTFUL and the Bjorn Baker pair of LUBITON and IMPOSING LASS.

This is without doubt the toughest race GIRL SUNDAY has faced in her career, howver trainer Gerald Ryan has had this race circled in the calendar for well over a month and the mare has taken great benefit from her short freshen up.

GIRL SUNDAY tuned up for tomorrows affair with an easy barrier trial at Rosehill 10 days ago, and the mare will look to get a soft run from her good barrier.

The mare will also be reunited with her regular jockey, James Innes Jnr, who has already won two metropolitan races on the big flashy daughter of Encosta De Lago and was aboard her in the recent trial.

The bookmakers have marked her at around the $26 mark given the strength of the opposition and class rise , but on her best form, she would be an each way chance in what shapes as an acid test of her black type credentials.

Followers of Lang Brothers Racing wont have to wait much longer for round two, when rangy four year old gelding MIDLAKE , returns to the track at the Sunshine Coast tomorrow night.

Trained at Eagle Farm by Team Meagher, the slow maturing son of leading Queensland sire ROTHESAY , has been given plenty of time to develop since his racetrack debut back in January

He finished at the tail of the field on that occasion, however it was a much better effort than what appears on paper. He was subsequently given a long spell and he has tuned up for his race track return with two pleasing barrier trials, running 3rd at Deagon in August , before again running 3rd under a good hold at Doomben 10 days ago.

He steps out over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast tomorrow night, a distance that on face value looks a touch short, however the long straight will allow jocket Bridget Grylls to put him through his gears and we look forward to seeing him progress through his grades this time in. He has developed into a lovely horse as you can see in the attached picture.

Adding further flavour to what shapes as a very Good Friday for LBR, the much vaunted three year old VERSETTO , will have his first jump out at Warwick Farm tomorrow morning.

Trainer Bjorn Baker has been very patient with the imposing son of YOUR SONG and the team is excited to finally see him in action.

Tomorrow we will get that first glimpse, albeit in the knowledge he wont be out to break any records.
