Naming racehorses is much harder than it may appear from the outside looking in.

Consider this – there are over 16,000 racehorses born every year , and each name cant be reused for a period of 20 years.
That represents a serious dent to the name pool – especially the good ones.

Throw in a syndicate of twenty plus owners , all with differing opinions, and managing to even come up with a top five, takes weeks , if not months.

The usual go to formula is to look at the sire and dam names, mix them all together , and try to come up with something witty.

Unfortunately,fFor every SHE WILL REIGN or BLACK CAVIAR, there are hundreds of HORSEY MCHORSEFACE’s or CRABS.

Once you do finally land on a final list, you then have to wade through the naming registration process. The sooner racing administrators do away with paper based forms and join the 21st century the better.

Therefore it is pleasing to announce , we have finally named three of our exciting two year olds , as they start the journey towards the track.

Kicking off our trio is BRAZEN BELLE, a full sister to former champion sprinter and the horse that started it all, BRAZEN BEAU.

Currently in training with Chris Waller at Rosehill, the horse is on track for a tilt at the rich $2 Million Magic Millions two year old race at the Gold Coast in January. Things start to get serious when she contests a barrier trial in the next fortnight.

Next up is FIGHTING FAITH, a filly out of up and coming young stallion FIGHTING SUN, by our own mare FAITH IN MY. The filly is currently in training with Bjorn Baker at Warwick Farm and will look to head to the Rosehill trials just before Xmas. Would love to see her contest the Inglis Classic Two Year Old Race at Warwick Farm next February.

Rounding out the trio is DIVINE MISSILE, a handsome son of Arrowfield stallion SMART MISSILE. He is currently trained at Hawkesbury by Luke Hilton and he should also hit the track in the new year.

All of the above still hold a live nomination for the 2018 Longines Golden Slipper to be run at Rosehill and all owners and connections are hoping each can find their way to the richest two year old race in the world come Autumn next year.WHAT
