NEVER LOSE FAITH as a weanling at Bowness Stud
The owners of three year old filly NEVER LOSE FAITH have reason to dream after their filly returned to racing in fine style at the Sunshine Coast trials this morning .
The late great George Michael summed it up best when he sang –
‘Cause I gotta have faith
I gotta’ have faith
Because I gotta have faith, faith, faith
I got to have faith, faith, faith
The filly has only had one career start to date , a lowly Friday night QTIS 3YO Filly Maiden at the Sunshine Coast in September where she was sent out at $71 and not expected to figure in the finish.
Whilst the form guide will show the bookies got it right (eventually finishing 6th) , anyone who saw the run that night would have seen her poleaxed twice in the home straight yet still have the audacity to pick herself up off the canvas and hit the line as good as anything to be beaten less than three lengths by the handy Matt Dunn filly XANTHUS.
Trainer Billy Healey had no hesitation in tipping her out straight after the run with an eye on the good three year old filly races in Brisbane during the winter.
“We just felt the filly was a touch immature and still had some growing to do when she headed to the races “ noted part owner Matt Lang from Lang Brothers Racing .
“Her trials leading up to that run were good without being great . All of the jockeys would tell us there was something there , but she was just immature”.
The Lang Brothers have had a long association with this filly , firstly purchasing the fillies dam in foal to EPAULETTE and then foaling this filly down at Bowness Stud in Young .
NEVER LOSE FAITH would eventually find her way to the 2018 Inglis Classic Sale where she was knocked down to Sunshine Coast trainer Billy Healey after originally being passed in .
As fate would have it , the filly was then syndicated and the Lang Brothers were happy to step back in and take a share in partnership with some of their loyal owners and a few existing Healey stable clients .
“We had been a fan of EPAULETTE for sometime and knew his stock had a tendency to get better with age “ said Lang.
“When the opportunity came to get involved with our first ever yearling we jumped at the chance”.
NEVER LOSE FAITH looks well primed to break her maiden status early this preparation after this mornings effort and the owners can dream of bigger things
“Billy has always maintained this filly has had ability and we have faith (no pun intended) this filly can fly the flag for our mare FAITH IN MY next year”
FAITH IN MY has tested 45 day positive to Darley shuttle stallion HARRY ANGEL after missing to FIGHTING SUN in 2018.
