SEPTEMBER 1 officially heralds the start of Spring and for horse breeders alike the dawn of the next exciting chapter in the circle of life.

A year of planning finally comes to fruition as we start to see the birth of new foals and the emergence of the next crop of young stallions.

It is no different for us at Lang Brothers as we eagerly await the first foal of our talented mare GIN N BITTERS and the next foal out of MANHATTAN RAIN mare EXTENSION.

On the flip side,  it also highlights the vagaries of the breeding game , as once again we are forced to endure another spring without the addition to the progeny of BRAHMAGIRI as she missed to HELLBENT last season.

What makes this an even bitter pill to swallow is the performances of her second foal JAYANTHI ,  a three yer old filly by the ill fated HINCHINBROOK.

JAYANTHI finally made it to the race track in 2022 , and acquitted herself well in her first preparation  , culminating in a maiden win at Ballarat and two metropolitan placings (at Sandown and Randwick respectively).

BRAHMAGIRI currently has a yearling colt on the ground (by  SO YOU THINK)  and  she will be served by the very speedy ANDERS at Widden Stud this Spring.

EXTENSION is currently in foal to TASSORT , the very talented son of BRAZEN BEAU , whose race track career was cruelly cut short due to injury .

The first of the TASSORT yearlings will be hitting the sales rings in early 2023 and we are excited to see the foal hit the ground in early October. Especially following the successful sale of her XTRAVAGANT colt at the 2022 Inglis Weanling sale earlier this year.

EXTENSION will again visit TASSORT at Newgate Farm this season.

But its fair to say all eyes will be focused north of the border as we await the birth of GIN N BITTERS  first foal later this month.  In what is a truly Queensland affair , she is in foal to SPIRIT OF BOOM and will foal down at the beautiful Eureka Stud , situated  in the Darling Downs.

GIN N BITTERS will then visit DUBIOUS at Aquis Farm later this spring.

Best of luck to all breeders for the upcoming season and we look forward to seeing the next group of yearlings coming through the sales ring.
