Good looking three year-old Girl Sunday took little time in getting to the winners circle with a comfortable victory at just her second start at Wyong. Prepared by Rosehill trainer Gerald Ryan, Girl Sunday was first up from a break after having one educational run last preparation.
Perfectly ridden by stable apprentice Lester Grace, Girl Sunday travelled nicely in transit before extending away stylishly for a dominant 1.5 length victory. A big filly by topline sire Encosta De Lago, Girl Sunday has been given plenty of time to mature by her owners since she was purchased as a yearling.
“I loved how relaxed this filly was at the sale. A big loose walking filly who really covered the ground nicely. She was always going to take a little bit of time to develop, but todays win indicates that that patience might just pay dividends now,” said Grant Morgan.
Girl Sunday was a $100,000 yearling purchase by Grant Morgan’s Ontrack Thoroughbreds from the 2014 Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne. She was purchased from prolific winner producing South Australian farm Mill Park.
