FIGHTING FAITH will look to break her maiden status on Tuesday at Pakenham
Three year old filly FIGHTING FAITH will return to the races at Pakenham on Tuesday after another disappointing last start effort as favourite.
FIGHTING FAITH joined the Ciaran Maher & David Eustace stable earlier this year after being transferred from Sydney .
In her four runs for the stable in 2019 , FIGHTING FAITH has failed to salute the judge , going down as a well backed favourite each start.
After running a string of placings at Echuca, Pakenham and Ballarat , punters again rallied behind her when she stepped out in a 1400m Fillies Maiden at Cranbourne on July 4.
FIGHTING FAITH finally drew a good gate and everything seemed to be going to script approaching the turn as jockey Jye McNeil had her in a perfect striking position heading for home.
But when he asked her for the effort down the running , there was very little in the tank , and she eventually faded out of the finish to run a very disappointing sixth .
A follow up veterinary report found her to be two out of five lame courtesy of a nasty bump just after the start , however punters were again left scratching their heads as she was beaten out of a place.
FIGHTING FAITH is again well in the market for Tuesday , currently a $4.80 chance with most corporates, behind pre post fancies KEY TO THE MAK ($3) and CHAPS DREAM ($4).
FIGHTING FAITH has been ridden on the speed at each of her five Victorian starts and new rider Ben Allen will have his work cut out courtesy of the wide draw (9) and what appears to be strong speed drawn on his inside.
“We decided to send her down to Victoria earlier this year in search of the rich VOBIS money as she is by Sun Stud’s FIGHTING SUN” said managing owner Matt Lang .
“It hasn’t really panned out as we had hoped, although she has still picked up close to $20,000 with her string of placings “.
“FIGHTING FAITH has been disappointing on face value since coming to Victoria but hopefully she can get the maiden out of the way and we can replan for next time in“ added Lang.
“I am just not sure if we got carried away with her dominant barrier trial performance at Warwick Farm early in her career or she has had genuine excuses at all of her starts in Victoria”.
“I think both punters and her owners alike probably have her on notice and anything less than a victory at Pakenham would put her long term prospects for continuing to persevere in Victoria in question” , concluded Lang.
FIGHTING FAITH runs in Race 4 on the program , set to jump at 2pm , with BEN ALLEN in the saddle.
