Brooker Avenue heads ro the Sunshine Coast this afternoon

Three year old filly BROOKER AVENUE can finally leave her passport at home as she ventures across the road to Corbould Park for her next assignment this afternoon.

BROOKER AVENUE has certainly clocked up the miles in her short six start career courtesy of road trips to Beaudesert, Toowoomba, Murwillumbah and Lismore.

After breaking her maiden status last start at Lismore she steps up to Benchmark 70 grade this afternoon in what shapes as her toughest test to date.

The long round trip to Lismore certainly took its toll on her physically and it took a few weeks to bounce back to her usual self.

Trainer Billy Healey has developed a great understanding of the fillies quirks and mannerisms and took it easy on her for a couple of weeks , mainly focusing on swimming and light exercise ,  to allow her the necessary time to recover.

BROOKER VENUE showed she was back to her usual self with a strong piece of work with two year old stablemate UNDERWOOD last week ,  and despite being thrown into the deep end this afternoon , looks capable of acquitting herself well in this class.

The rise in class has also seen her drop significantly in weight , meaning she will carry only 54kgs this afternoon.

This has meant regular jockey Josh Oliver has had to forfeit the ride and she will now be ridden by Mark Du Plessis.

“This filly hasn’t run a bad race in her career , and with any luck in running , could have won three races “ said part owner Matt Lang .

“She has started fav in the majority of her races and whilst its always disappointing not to get the cash when they are well backed, there have been genuine excuses for her defeats” added Lang.

Last start at Lismore she went for a bath on course, starting at a very juicy $8 after opening at $3.50.

The drift was probably more courtesy of the support for odds on favourite CELEBRITA’S CHOICE ($1.30) than a knock from the mounting yard.

Healey has presented the horse in fantastic shape at each of her runs this prep and from all reports she is expected to again catch the eye in the mounting yard this afternoon.

Being a QTIS Bonus horse, this afternoon represents her last chance to capitalise on the rich pickings available to tree year old fillies in Queensland , as she will tun four on August 1st this year.

Win, lose or draw, BROOKER AVENUE will head for a well earned spell after today’s run,  with connections confident she can progress through her grades next time in.

BROOKER AVENUE is a three year old filly by EXCEEDINGLY GOOD out of CARNEGIE mare AUTOMATIC SLIM. From six race starts , she has a win, a second and a third placing to her credit and prize money just over $20,000.

BROOKER AVENUE runs in Race 7 on the program and is current a $41 chance in betting.
