Exciting two year old colt VERSETTO is just one of many horses in NSW impacted by the recent big wet.
On the comeback trail after a pelvic injury forced an early halt to his two year old campaign, the Bjorn Baker trained son of YOUR SONG has struggled to get out of first gear due to the state of the tracks.
The YOUR SONG progeny have taken all before them this season with recent South Australian Group 2 winner SPLIT LIP flying the flag a fortnight ago.
YOUR SONG has currently sired the winner of seven races , well ahead of his more illustrious freshman sires ALL TOO HARD and PIERRO.
Baker is happy with how he is ticking over and is pleased to see the coltish behaviour he had in the early days when returning to the stable gradually disappearing.
The plan will be to have a jump out at Warwick Farm next Friday before Baker looks for a suitable barrier trial in early May.
Purchased at the 2016 Magic Millions Sale on the Gold Coast for $150,000 by Lang Brothers Racing, VERSETTO will hopefully graduate towards some of the top class three year old races in Sydney and Melbourne this Spring.
Baker has been extremely patient with this fellow and has gradually nursed him back to full health. He has been given plenty of time to mature and he is now an imposing individual with a dominating presence.
Much more will be known after the trial, but the early signs are extremely positive for the ownership group who dare to dream heading towards the Spring.
